To the left stand five people who have been travelling on their ‘better’ paths and are now overcome by their shame and remorse. We separate ourselves from God when we ignore him and his ways. A place of curse and loss is found wherever God is kept out. So we clasp the poles of the flags all the more tightly and want to remind ourselves of his commandments.
